So much more than just a book, this commemorative work, produced for the first time in conjunction with the Sainte-Mère-Eglise Airborne Museum’s outstanding collection, retraces the epic journey of the victorious troops of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Disvisions from their inception to their combat missions in Normandy, Holland, belgium and on to Germany.
Many documents and artifacts from the Museum’s collection illustrate the pages of this acount of the paratroopers’ perilous mission, the accomplishment of which was crucial to the success of the allied invasion of Normandy.
The sacrifices, made by the American paratroopers, rmain one of the greatest military achievements of the D-Day landings and the battle of Normandy. On June 6th 1944, the destinies of those men and the small village of Sainte-Mère-Eglise were entwined in perpetuity.
